Dr Nicholas founded the Wholistic Medical Centre in 1977. It was the first Centre of its kind in Australia and grew to fifteen practitioners including: medical doctors working side by side with naturopaths, acupuncturists, osteopaths, massage therapists, hypnotherapists and more. In the 1980s and 1990s, this multidisciplinary approach was unusual and pioneered what is now called ‘integrative medicine’.
Learning from and closely working with these complementary health care practitioners has broadened Dr Nicholas’s perspective and ability to recommend treatment plans that integrate the best of conventional and complementary medicine. With close to 50 years’ experience, he can guide you in the best treatment options to take, or to avoid, to maximise your chances of helpful health outcomes.
In 2002 Dr Nicholas began studying a mindfulness based, body orientated form of psychotherapy to assist people with stress and other forms of mental/emotional suffering. His approach, emphasising direct experience, is highly suitable for people who have noticed that their physical symptoms are connected to their stress levels and who wish to learn how to manage better.
The next phase of development arose in 2020 when Dr Nicholas started learning about the emerging field of medicinal cannabis. He is now a TGA Authorised Prescriber with over 5 years’ experience and more than 4000 consultations prescribing cannabis for medical conditions.
